Will Dorgu with his Award

Local Conservative Activist, Will Dorgu

William Dorgu, a local Conservative activist, won Volunteer of the Year for supporting and promoting health and wellbeing initiatives in Thamesmead.

He started as a Health Champion 18 months ago and also volunteers with several Peabody projects, including being an advisor for Positive Steps project.

William, pictured above said:
“I’m very grateful to Peabody for this award. George Peabody came to this country and made a significant difference to people’s lives. I started volunteering because I want to do what George Peabody did!

“I haven’t got millions of pounds, but I’ve got good communications skills and a passion for bringing people together. I’d like to thank Abu and Linda from Trust Thamesmead, who trained me to become a health champion, meaning I can help people by supporting and promoting health and wellbeing initiatives across Thamesmead.”
